The future of heat guns are digital heat guns with LCD display. Why? If you never used one then you don’t know the answer to this, but if you only used at least once one digital heat gun you will know the answer.
The difference between a normal heat gun and a digital one is huge. It’s just like comparing the old Nokia phone with the new iPhone or Samsung, that’s how big the difference is.
As you may know from reading our blog, we work a lot with heat guns. Since our job allows us to try different heat guns we decided to compare the top 10 digital heat guns with LCD display
- 0.1 Why should you buy heat gun with temperature control?

Down below you will find our top picks for the best digital heat guns
#1 DEWALT D26960 Heavy Duty Heat Gun with LCD Display
My favorite heat gun! I have used this heat gun a lot of times. What makes it special is that it comes with all the features you ever need. Of course, it comes also with LCD display which makes it even more better. I have used this heat gun from removing paint to shrinking wrap and it did a great job. This model weight is 7 pounds and comes with a really large cord that is 10 feet long. Which makes it easier to move around on your house without needing to plug and unplug it.
The LCD display is at the top of this tool, and it shows you what temperature is blowing at that very moment. Under the LCD display, it has two really big buttons (+,-) which I find really easy to click if you are working with one hand, that increases or decreases the temperature each time you click them per 50 degrees
It has the “build in” feature that allows you to put it on its back safely when you want to rest your hand after a long time using it. I mostly use this feature when I want to cool down the heat gun and especially I use it when I need an extra hand to hold the object.
When I first bought this heat gun I was scared that if I use it too much the next time the heating system won’t work. Because I have been there with other low quality heat guns. But then I found out that it won’t happen. Why? Because this model has the “In overload Protection” which basically prevents that from happening. If the heat gun reaches a temperature that it can’t handle then this feature kick in and stops the heat gun automatically and prevent burn up.
If you are in a hurry here are the pros and cons of this tool!
- LCD display
- In-build protection (if the heat gun is overheated this feature will automatically shut down the tool)
- Temperature Control (50 degrees, increase or decrease of the temperature each time the buttons are clicked)
- Perfect Design that allows you to put it on its back safety
- Variable Temperature (150 degrees to 1100 degree)
- Comes with must-have accessories (different nozzles, putty knife, and more)
- This model doesn’t have any cons
#2 TR Industrial 1700W Digital Heat Gun Kit
Do you want a heat gun that allows you even more adjustment of temperature than 50 degrees? I usually use this model because of its great temperature adjustment. This model has a really great temperature control, that allows you to increase or decrease temperature each time for 20 degrees.
This is what I call a “digital heat gun”, because not only it has an LCD display that shows you the temperature, but also has a memory, that allows you to save up to 4 different temperature setting that you can later use. I really find this helpful when I’m working on a similar object that needs the same temperature.
The temperature range that this model offers starts from 120 degrees and goes up to 1200 degrees. Which you can adjust by clicking buttons near the LCD display. This model not only has a really big temperature range but also heats up really fast, and all this thanks to the powerful motor inside it (1700 W). Usually, it heats to its fullest temperature in less than one minute. Which is really fast compared to some other models.
I find this heat gun really lifelong since it has the “Over Heat Protection” feature. Most of the basic heat guns get damaged by their own heat. Usually, when you work for a long time with heat guns, their heating system gets damaged. But this feature prevents that from happening. If the heat gun reaches a temperature where it can damage the heating system then this feature kick in and automatically stops heat gun and prevent burning.
Except for the features I really love at this model, another thing I love is that it comes with a really cool heavy duty carry case. Which also comes with all accessories needed to work on different objects such as
Different Nozzles ( fan nozzle, glass protector, cone nozzle, spool reflector, reducer nozzle)
Putty Knife and handheld scraper.
If you are in a hurry here are the pros and cons of this tool!
- LCD display
- Temperature memory ( Memorizes up to 4 different temperature setting which you can use later)
- 5 different fan speeds
- Cool Down Mode
- Perfect Temperature Control ( 20 degrees adjustment)
- In-build overheat protection
- Comes with all necessary accessories
- Sometimes you will have to turn off and then turn on again the tool in order to change the memory settings
#3 Tacklife HGP72AC 1700W Heavy Duty Heat Gun
A good LCD heat gun recommendation is this one ” Tacklife HGP72AC 1700W Heavy Duty Heat Gun”. I did a lot of tasks with this heat gun. Most of my tasks were home fixing such as paint removal, heating up hot melt glue, and a lot of different tasks. And this one did its job perfectly.
The digital control that allows you to increase or decrease the temperature is just amazing. You can quickly change the temperature from 120 degrees to 1200 degrees.
The LCD is on its back and it shows the temperature and the adjusting data too, near LCD display there are different buttons which allow you to easily change the temperature settings.
My favorite feature of this model is the memory settings. Basically, this feature allows you to save up to 4 different temperature settings which you can use later. This is really helpful especially if you work on the same objects daily and you have found the perfect temperature settings and want to re-use it again.
Its a really powerful heat gun working at 1700W which provides quick heat up. Usually, this heat gun heats up to the fullest temperature 1202 degrees(650?) in less than a minute. Using it in your home is good since it comes with a 1.8 m cord which makes it easy to move around on your room with it.
You know the feeling when you are using a heat gun for a long time and you just expect it to stop working the next time you use it because you are scared that overheating has damaged your tool? Well, with this model you will not feel that. Why? Because this model is tested and can handle up to 500 hours of work without stopping for a moment.
Also, inside it has the feature called “In-Build Protection” or “Overheating Protection” which basically helps the tool to not overheat the parts inside. If that ever happens this feature kick in and automatically stops the tool, and prevents the parts from burning.
Unfortunately, this model doesn’t come with a case, but its double boxed and well packaged for shipping. Also, accessories such as different nozzles (Spoon reflector, Cone, Fishtail surface, BBQ lighter Nozzle), Putty Knife, three scraper blades are included with the manual inside the box!
If you are in a hurry here are the pros and cons of this tool!
- LCD display
- Overheating Protection (Protects the parts inside from getting damaged from heat)
- Digital Control
- 4 Different Memory Settings ( Allows you to save up to 4 different temperature setting which you can use later)
- 1.8m cord
- Cool Down feature
- Adjustment for air flow
- Adjustment for temperature
- Comes together with a lot of accessories
- Fast heating (under one minute)
- Doesn’t come with a case

#0 DuRyte Pro LCD Display Heat Gun with Precise Electronic Temperature Control 120°F to 1200°F
I really think that temperature adjustment is really necessary for heat guns. Why? Well, the old basic heat guns that just blows as much heat as they can usually destroy a lot of sensitive objects rather than fixing them. I know I destroyed a lot of sensitive objects by overheating them with basic heat guns that didn’t have temperature control. Don’t get me wrong, I still think you can use basic heat guns to do your job. But I prefer the digital ones. And another good digital heat gun is this one called “DuRyte Pro LCD Display Heat Gun”.It comes with a really big temperature range that starts at 120 degrees and goes up to 1200 degrees. The LCD display is located on the back and has a lot of different buttons near it that allow you to change the temperature setting easily. You can increase or decrease the temperature by clicking the buttons (20-degree adjustment). I use this tool mostly when I have to strip paint or when I am thawing pipes, all because this model allows me to control the fan speed which makes my work really easy and faster. Just like the other models I have mentioned here, this one has the “Overheat Protection” too. If the heat gun can’t handle the heat and it starts to overheat this feature automatically stops the heating element and prevents burn up. What I like most about this model is that it has the perfect design to lay on its back. I usually do this when I need an extra hand to hold the object I’m working on. I just lay the tool on its back and hold the object over it, usually when I try to bend something. As we know that working on a different object you have to use nozzles in order to direct the air flow better. Different objects require different nozzles. Luckily the accessories that come with this model include some really good nozzles such as Deflector, Reflector, Air reduction. If you are in a hurry here are the pros and cons of this tool Pros LCD display Temperature Control (20-degree temperature adjustment) Hands-Free Feature Lightweight Fan Speed Control Cons No “Cool Down” Feature, but you can de-increase the temperature by using the buttons which helps to cool down faster. #0 Hitachi RH650V Heat Gun The “Hitachi RH650V Heat Gun” is a perfect tool to use when you want to remove paint, thaw frozen pipes, remove the floor and a lot of other stuff.
I use it for all kinds of jobs, mostly because it’s really lightweight, it only weighs 1 pound which makes my job really easy since it allows me to work for hours without getting tired. Also, one time I used it while everyone else was sleeping and noticed that this model is really quite Of course, this model comes with a great LCD display which is at its back. Near the LCD display , there are buttons that allow you to adjust almost every temperature settings. Depending on the task you are doing, you can choose up to 5 different fan speeds, which you can change them really easily by just clicking buttons on its back. I find it really easy to click these buttons even if I’m only using one hand. Even that this model is really lightweight that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have power. It heats extremely fast and has a really big temperature range. The temperature range goes from 120 degrees to 1200 degrees. Of course, the buttons near LCD display, allow you to adjust the temperature really easy. You can increase or decrease the temperature by 20 degrees each time you click the buttons.
The heating system rang goes from 8.8 CFM to 17.7 CFM. How fast this model heats up is impressive, but also impressive is how fast it cools down. I know everyone is a busy person and usually, not everyone has the luxury to wait 5 or 10 minutes for the heat gun to cool down. I know I don’t. So whenever I’m in a rush I pick up this tool since I know I won’t need to wait 5 or 10 minutes for this tool to cool down. Because if you didn’t know, you can’t put a hot heat gun back to its case since it may damage the case. Overheating is not a problem at this model. This model comes with a overheat protection that prevents the tool to get damaged from the heat. If the heat gun can’t handle the heat this feature will kick in and stop the tool automatically. Accessories include different nozzles: Glass Protector, Spreader, Hook, Concentrator Nozzle and Handheld Scraper, Storage Case. If you are in a hurry here are the pros and cons of this tool!
Pros LCD display Lightweight Temperature Control (20-degree temperature adjustment) Five Heat System (from 8.8 CFM to 17.7 CFM) Cons Build quality is questionable!
If you still haven’t decided if you should buy one or which one you should then ask your self these questions.
Why should you buy heat gun with temperature control?
As you have seen from our top pics, all of them are heat guns with temperature control, but why should you choose them? Easy, the name it self-tells you why. Let’s just say you need to work on a sensitive object, and if your heat gun doesn’t have temperature control you will just be directing 1200 degrees to a sensitive object. Can you imagine how fast would that object get overheated and destroyed?
Now, having a heat gun with this feature will prevent this from happening, depending on the model you are using, you can increase/ de-increase 50 or 20 degrees each time with this feature. Which allow you to use an exact temperature and to warm up the object before working on it.
Do I really need a variable temperature heat gun?
I really like heat guns that have a big variable temperature range. Why do I like them? Clearly, because I can use them for almost every object. As we know different object require a different temperature, some need up to 1200 degree temperature in order to start working on them, and some need only 200 – 300 degree to start working on them. And having a heat gun with variable temperature allows you to work on different objects, without making you go buy a smaller or bigger heat gun to do the job. Of course, all of our picks have this feature.
What are digital heat guns?
I get it, this term may confuse you. How can a heat gun be digital? Well, it’s really simple. It’s not really an advanced version, but its called like that because of the LCD display and some other features. What are these features? Well, as we have mentioned earlier, these features are, the variable temperature, and the temperature control. On daily tasks, these features help a lot and really make a big difference if you compare them to basic heat guns.
What does the heat gun with LCD display do differently?
Of course, the basic heat gun and the digital one both do the same job. They blow hot air. So where’s the difference if they both do the same job? As we have mentioned earlier the basic heat guns are just made to turn ON and blow as much hot air as they can and then turn OFF.
Now, that might work just great if you are using heat guns on objects that are not that sensitive and can handle a lot of heat. But what happens if you use a heat gun on a sensitive object, like PC parts that are really sensitive and really expensive. If you overheat sensitive object you may damage them permanently, and they may never work again.
So, can you afford to destroy expensive object just because you wanted a basic heat gun instead of the variable temperature heat gun that comes with LCD? Of course not. Not only you can see what temperature is heat gun blowing on the LCD display, but you can increase it and decrease it.
I know that some of the basic heat guns have these features too, most of them have 2 temperature ranges, where you can change it to one or another. But, the difference is that there you can choose let’s say 400 degrees and 1200 degree. You can’t choose more or less.
But these variable temperature heat gun with LCD come with 20-degree increase or decrease, which makes it really easy to get the exact temperature you want the heat gun to blow. Also, all models that come with LCD are adjustable temperature heat gun.
Do these heat guns come with different features?
Of course, another feature I like about these digital heat guns is that allows you to cool down the heat gun faster. How does that happen? Well, as we know heat guns blow hot air which makes the heat gun get hotter each time the temperature increases. But, the cool-down option is totally the opposite of this. Instead of blowing hot air that makes the heat gun get hotter, this feature blows cold air that makes the heat gun to cool down really fast.
This is extremely helpful when we are short on time because as we know putting heat guns in its place while it’s still hot may damage the box or place we put it in.
Have you ever bought a new heat gun, and after 2 months of using it, it just stopped working? We all have been there and that is mostly because the inside part of heat guns can’t handle a lot of heat for a long time. Now there’s a solution to that. Most of the new heat guns come with the feature called ” In-Build Protection”
What does this feature do? This feature basically protects all the parts inside the heat gun. If the maximum temperature of the heat gun is reached and if that temperature starts overheating inside parts, this feature automatically stops the heat gun, which helps to protect the inside parts and also make your heat gun live longer.
Are our picks adjustable temperature heat gun?
Yes, all of our picks are adjustable temperature heat guns, which basically allows you to adjust the temperature for your own preference
